Care Notes

Common Feeding Mistakes
An all-seed diet is the biggest mistake. Alexandrines love seed and nuts, but on their own they are too fatty. Base the diet on quality pellets, add fresh vegetables, leafy greens and some fruit daily, and offer nuts as a treat. Avoid avocado, chocolate, caffeine and salty foods.
Habitat Requirements
Alexandrines are large with long tails and need a big cage, wider than it is tall, with secure bar spacing around 2 cm. They are strong chewers, so use sturdy fittings and plenty of chew and foraging toys, and give several hours of supervised time out of the cage each day.
Handling & Socialisation
Alexandrines are clever and bond strongly, often to one person, so involve the whole household in handling and feeding to keep them sociable. Start training young with short, positive sessions. Without daily interaction and enrichment they can become loud or nippy.

THE ALEXANDRINES MESS PROBLEM

Cage-mounted feeders are the most effective way to feed parrots like Alexandrines. By fixing the feeder securely to the cage, food stays contained, stable, and accessible without spilling onto cage floors or surrounding areas.

Meet the founders

An Aussie family brand, built for cleaner bird feeding.

Hi, we are Russell and Peita.

Seed Cube started at home with one very determined Alexandrine. After years of cracked plastic, slipped mounts, and constant clean ups, we realised most feeders were not built to handle real birds or daily use.

We set out to build something we would actually trust.
That same focus on strength, stability, and cleaner feeding now guides how we design feeders for daily cage use.

There are now over 10,000 Seed Cubes in use worldwide. We do not build feeders to be cheap. We build them so feeding feels easier and spaces feel calmer.
