Australian Consumer Law
If you are a consumer in Australia, this section prevails over any other part of this policy where there is a conflict.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Where the Australian Consumer Law requires a refund, we refund to your original payment method.
Our change-of-mind, fitment, store credit, hygiene, deduction, return shipping, and inspection terms only apply where the Australian Consumer Law does not require us to provide a refund, replacement, repair, or other remedy.
For a valid claim under a consumer guarantee, we cover the reasonable cost of returning the goods. To assess a claim, we may ask for proof of purchase and reasonable evidence of the issue.
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Back to topWarranty and Faulty Items
We stand by our product quality. If your Seed Cube has a genuine manufacturing fault, we will make it right in accordance with this policy and the Australian Consumer Law.
We provide a 12-month warranty against genuine manufacturing faults from the date of delivery. This express warranty is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which may apply for a longer period depending on the price and expected durability of the product.
Warranty Process
To raise a warranty or faulty item claim, contact hello@seedcube.com.au with:
- Your order number or proof of purchase
- A clear description of the issue
- Clear photos or video showing the issue
- Any other reasonable information we need to assess the claim
We aim to assess warranty claims within 5 business days after receiving the required information.
If the Product Has a Minor Fault
For a minor fault, we may repair, replace, or refund the item within a reasonable time, as allowed under the Australian Consumer Law.
If the Product Has a Major Fault
For a major fault, you may choose a refund or replacement, as required under the Australian Consumer Law.
Courier Damage
If your item appears damaged in transit, contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours of delivery, and provide clear photos of the outer packaging, internal packaging, and damaged item. Prompt notice helps us lodge a claim with the carrier. This timeframe does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where safe and practical, please keep the original packaging until the issue has been assessed, as packaging photos may help us review transit damage or lodge a carrier claim. This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
What Warranty Does Not Cover
Warranty does not cover issues caused by:
- Drops, knocks, impact, or mishandling
- Incorrect fitment, mounting, or unstable installation
- Birds, pets, children, or third-party interference
- Normal wear, scratches, or cosmetic marks from use
- Cleaning damage from harsh chemicals, abrasives, dishwashers, or unsuitable cleaning methods
- Customer modifications, repairs, or alterations
- Use outside the intended purpose of a bird feeder, including use as a toy, climbing structure, chew item, or impact object
- Issues outside any express warranty period, except where consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law still apply
Consumer guarantees may still apply even after an express warranty period has ended.
Customer Cooperation
To resolve a claim efficiently, please respond to reasonable requests for photos, video, or information. If we do not hear from you for 14 days, we may close the claim. Closed claims can be reopened if you contact us again, subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Back to topEU, EEA and UK Right of Withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom, this section applies to your order and prevails over any other part of this policy where there is a conflict.
This section covers feeders, trays, enrichment toys, and accessories. Food, seed, and consumables are sold within Australia only and are not shipped to these regions.
Your 14-Day Right of Withdrawal
You may withdraw from your order within 14 days without giving any reason. The period ends 14 days after the day you, or someone you nominate, receives the goods. For an order delivered in parts, it ends 14 days after you receive the last item.
How to Withdraw
To withdraw, email hello@seedcube.com.au with your name, order number, and a clear statement that you are withdrawing from the order.
Returning the Goods
Send the goods back without undue delay and no later than 14 days after telling us you are withdrawing. We will provide the return address when we acknowledge your request. You are responsible for the direct cost of return postage.
Your Refund
We refund all payments made for the order, including the standard delivery cost. If you chose a delivery option more expensive than our cheapest standard service, we refund the standard delivery rate.
We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of being told you are withdrawing. We may withhold the refund until we receive the goods back, or until you provide proof you have sent them, whichever is earlier.
For EU, EEA, and UK withdrawals, we do not deduct pick and pack, payment, merchant, handling, or restocking fees. The only reduction is for any loss in value of the goods caused by handling beyond what is necessary to inspect them.
Condition of Returned Goods
You may handle the goods only as you would in a shop, to check their nature, characteristics, and function. Fitting a feeder for use, placing it in or around a cage, or exposing it to a bird environment goes beyond inspection.
Because our products are used around live birds, food, cages, and bird environments, a product exposed to a bird environment may have substantially reduced value and may not be saleable again. Where this happens, your refund may be reduced to reflect the loss in value, which may be up to the full value of the item depending on its condition.
Exceptions
The right of withdrawal does not apply to certain goods, including perishable goods, goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, and sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons where the seal has been broken after delivery.
Faulty or Not as Described
Your right of withdrawal is separate from your statutory rights. If an item is faulty, damaged on arrival, or not as described, your statutory rights are not affected by this policy.

Additional Store Policies
The sections below are additional store policies or operational conditions offered by Seed Cube as a customer service measure.
They apply only where the Australian Consumer Law, EU/EEA/UK withdrawal rights, or other applicable consumer law does not require a refund, repair, replacement, withdrawal right, return cost reimbursement, or other remedy.
Because these are additional store policies offered voluntarily by Seed Cube, Seed Cube may amend, withdraw, replace, or update them from time to time for future purchases, future claims, or future discretionary support. Any change will not exclude, restrict, or modify rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law.
Unless otherwise required by law, voluntary policy claims are assessed under the policy terms published at the time of purchase, together with any additional good-faith support Seed Cube chooses to offer at the time of assessment.
Change-of-Mind Returns
Voluntary policy
We offer a voluntary 30-day change-of-mind return window from the date your order is delivered.
Change-of-mind returns are not required under the Australian Consumer Law. Because they are offered voluntarily, the conditions below apply.
For approved change-of-mind returns, our standard remedy is store credit. This does not apply where you are entitled to a refund, repair, or replacement under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law.
Store credit issued for approved change-of-mind returns is valid for 3 years from the date of issue, unless a longer period is required by law.
Change-of-Mind Return Conditions
To be eligible for a change-of-mind return, the item must be:
- Unused and in brand-new condition
- In its original packaging with all parts, accessories, inserts, and promotional items included
- Free from food residue, bird droppings, feathers, dust, scratches, marks, odour, or signs of cage or bird exposure
- Not installed, used, or exposed to a bird environment, including placement in or on a cage, aviary, bird stand, or bird feeding area
Used, marked, damaged, contaminated, or bird-exposed items are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law where a product is faulty or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.
Hygiene and Biosecurity Policy
Seed Cube products are used around live birds, food, cages, and bird environments. For hygiene, biosecurity, and customer safety reasons, any product installed, used, or exposed to a bird environment is considered used and cannot be returned as a change-of-mind return.
This includes:
- Trial use of any duration
- Installation on or near a cage for use, trial use, or feeding
- Placement in or on a cage, aviary, bird stand, or bird feeding area
- Exposure to birds, bird food, feathers, droppings, dander, or bird-related residue
Due to hygiene and biosecurity risks associated with products exposed to bird environments, we do not resell products that have been used around birds.
Back to topChange-of-Mind Deductions
Voluntary policy
For voluntary change-of-mind returns, we may deduct reasonable unrecoverable costs from your store credit. These deductions only apply to discretionary change-of-mind returns and do not apply where the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law requires a refund or other remedy.
Deductions may include:
- The difference between any flat-rate shipping paid by you and the actual outbound shipping cost paid by us, where applicable
- Payment processing fees retained by PayPal, Afterpay, Shopify Payments, or similar providers
- A handling and administration fee of up to $15 to cover order processing and return administration costs
- The retail value of any free gift, bonus item, or promotional inclusion that is not returned in unused condition
These deductions reflect real costs incurred to fulfil your order. They are not penalties. Where deductions apply, we will itemise them so you can see how the store credit amount was calculated.
Free Gifts and Promotional Items
If your order included a free gift, bonus item, bundle inclusion, or gift-with-purchase, all items from the original order must be returned together to qualify for full store credit.
If a promotional item is not returned, or is returned used, damaged, marked, contaminated, or bird-exposed, its retail value may be deducted from your store credit.
Back to topHow to Return an Item
You must contact us at hello@seedcube.com.au before returning anything. We will provide return instructions and the correct return address.
Please do not mark your parcel as "Return to Sender" without approval. This may cause delays or extra carrier charges. Any extra costs caused by an unauthorised return method may be deducted from your change-of-mind store credit.
Return Shipping
- Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is the customer's responsibility
- International customers must arrange and pay for their own return shipping
- We do not reimburse return shipping for change-of-mind returns
- Where the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law requires it, we cover the reasonable cost of returning faulty goods
We highly recommend using a tracked shipping service for all voluntary change-of-mind returns. Seed Cube is not responsible for voluntary returns that are lost, delayed, damaged, or contaminated in transit back to us.
Returned items must arrive back to us in eligible condition to qualify for change-of-mind store credit. If a voluntary return arrives damaged, missing parts, marked, contaminated, bird-exposed, or otherwise no longer in brand-new condition, it may not qualify for store credit.
Return Processing
All returned items are inspected on arrival.
- If the item passes inspection, store credit will be issued less any applicable deductions
- If the item fails inspection, we will contact you
- If you want an ineligible item returned to you, return shipping back to you is at your cost
- If an item arrives damaged, contaminated, or bird-exposed, it will not qualify for change-of-mind store credit unless otherwise required under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law
Store credit is usually issued within 10 business days after the returned item passes inspection.
Back to topItems Not Eligible for Change-of-Mind Returns
The following items are not eligible for change-of-mind returns. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law where a product is faulty or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.
- Used, trialled, marked, damaged, contaminated, or bird-exposed products
- Products installed, used, or exposed to a bird environment, including placement in or on a cage, aviary, bird stand, or bird feeding area
- Perishable items, including food, seed, and consumables
- Custom-made, personalised, or special-order items
- Clearance, sale, or final-sale items, unless we choose otherwise
- Gift cards and store credit
Voluntary Fitment Guarantee
Voluntary policy
Our Voluntary Fitment Guarantee applies to physical cage compatibility before the Seed Cube has been used with a bird or exposed to a bird environment.
This guarantee is intended to support standard cage setups, including cages with horizontal bars and suitable aviary mesh. Because bird cages are made by many different manufacturers and vary widely in bar spacing, door design, bowl access, mesh thickness, and mounting points, some setups may require reasonable adjustment or an alternative mounting approach to achieve a secure fit.
A Seed Cube is considered compatible if it can be securely mounted to your cage in a stable and reasonable way, including by internal mounting, external mounting, or using an alternative flat mounting point such as another door panel or bowl ring location.
Check fitment before full installation. If you are unsure the Seed Cube will fit your cage, you may perform a brief test-fit and contact us with photos before mounting it for use or exposing it to a bird. A brief compatibility check does not void a fitment claim.
To help keep the product in returnable condition during a brief test-fit, we recommend leaving the Seed Cube inside its protective bag where practical and handling it carefully to avoid unnecessary marks, scratches, fingerprints, dust, or other handling residue. This helps preserve the item in as-new condition if a return needs to be assessed.
Once the product has been mounted for use, used with a bird present, or exposed to a bird environment, it is considered used, and hygiene and biosecurity rules apply. A used item cannot be resold and is not eligible for a change-of-mind return.
What the Voluntary Fitment Guarantee Covers
- Physical cage compatibility with standard cage setups
- Cages with suitable horizontal bars
- Cages with suitable aviary mesh
- Internal mounting options
- External mounting options
- Alternative stable mounting points on a suitable cage
- Reasonable fitment support where a secure mount can be achieved with guidance or minor adjustment
Fitment is based on whether a stable installation can reasonably be achieved, not whether the Seed Cube fits every cage in one exact position without adjustment.
Minor Cage Adjustments
In some cases, a secure fit may require a minor cage adjustment or use of an alternative mounting point. This may include removing a detachable bowl door, removing a removable metal bowl ring, using another flat cage panel, or, where safe and appropriate, making a minor adjustment to aviary mesh such as snipping a single horizontal wire.
Any cage or aviary modification is made at the customer's own discretion and risk. Seed Cube is not responsible for damage to, repair of, replacement of, or loss of use of any cage, aviary, mesh, door, bowl ring, panel, hardware, or related item that is cut, removed, altered, bent, modified, or otherwise changed by the customer or a third party.
Customers should only make cage or aviary adjustments where they are confident it is safe and appropriate to do so. Any modification should not create sharp edges, weak points, escape risks, instability, unsafe gaps, or any other risk to birds, people, pets, or property.
Modified Hooks and Fitment Support
If a fitment issue relates to the Seed Cube not sitting flush against the cage, we may, at our discretion, offer modified hooks or other fitment guidance as a good-faith support measure.
To assess or provide modified hooks, customers must work with us by providing clear photos, measurements, cage details, and any other reasonable information we request. If modified hooks are offered as a good-faith support measure, the customer is responsible for the cost of shipping unless the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
Customer Responsibilities
To make a Voluntary Fitment Guarantee claim, you must:
- Check your cage type before purchase
- Follow the installation instructions provided
- Contact us before exposing the product to a bird environment if you are unsure about fitment
- Provide clear photos of your entire cage setup, the mounting area, and the attempted fitment when requested
- Provide accurate measurements when requested
- Attempt reasonable mounting options, including internal mounting, external mounting, or another suitable flat mounting point
- Work with us in good faith to assess whether a stable installation can reasonably be achieved
Cages Not Covered
The Seed Cube requires a suitable flat mounting surface. The Voluntary Fitment Guarantee does not apply to:
- Round cages
- Curved or dome-style cage walls
- Cages without a suitable flat mounting area
- Cages with bar spacing, mesh, door design, or cage construction that prevents a stable mount
- Cages where a safe and reasonable mounting option exists but has not been attempted
- Cages where the required modification would compromise cage safety, cage structure, or bird security
- Cages purchased or changed after receiving your Seed Cube
The Voluntary Fitment Guarantee only applies to the cage intended for use at the time of purchase and does not extend to cages purchased or changed afterwards.
What the Voluntary Fitment Guarantee Does Not Cover
- Change of mind
- Bird behaviour, preference, refusal to use the feeder, or failure to adapt to the Seed Cube
- Products that have been installed, used, or exposed to a bird environment
- Situations where a reasonable mounting option exists but has not been attempted
- Situations where requested photos, measurements, or fitment information have not been provided
- Damage caused by incorrect installation, unstable mounting, drops, knocks, cage modification, sharp cage edges, or misuse
Fitment Resolution
To claim under the Voluntary Fitment Guarantee, first contact us with clear photos of your entire cage setup, the mounting area, and the attempted mount before mounting further or exposing the product to a bird. Where a genuine fitment issue is confirmed, we may offer guidance, an exchange, modified hooks, or store credit. A brief test-fit to check compatibility does not disqualify a fitment claim. This is separate from change-of-mind returns, which require the item to be unused and in brand-new condition.
Return shipping for Voluntary Fitment Guarantee claims is the customer's responsibility unless the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
Back to topInstallation, Mounting and Handling
It is the owner's responsibility to ensure the Seed Cube is correctly installed, securely attached, and suitable for their bird, cage, aviary, and intended setup before use.
Customers must follow the installation instructions provided and use the appropriate hook type, mounting method, and setup recommended for their cage. This includes checking whether standard hooks, Talon Hooks, internal mounting, external mounting, or another suitable mounting point is the safest and most stable option for their setup.
Bird Safety and Owner Responsibility
Birds vary widely in size, strength, behaviour, chewing habits, confidence, and response to new products. It is the owner's responsibility to introduce the Seed Cube safely, supervise their bird during introduction, and make sure the product is being used in a safe and appropriate manner.
Before leaving a bird unattended with the Seed Cube, the owner must check that:
- The Seed Cube is securely and correctly mounted
- The correct hooks and mounting method have been used for the cage setup
- The cage, door, mesh, bowl ring, or mounting area remains secure
- There are no unsafe gaps, sharp edges, weak points, or escape risks
- The bird cannot dislodge, lift, move, chew, or interfere with the installation in a way that creates a safety risk
- The product is suitable for the bird's size, behaviour, and strength
The Seed Cube is a bird feeder. It is not a cage lock, escape-prevention device, toy, chew item, climbing structure, or predator-proof enclosure component.
Cage, Aviary and Escape Risk
If a customer removes, cuts, bends, adjusts, or modifies any part of a cage or aviary, including mesh, bars, doors, bowl rings, panels, clips, locks, or hardware, that modification is made at the customer's own discretion and risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Seed Cube is not responsible for bird escape, injury, illness, death, loss, veterinary costs, consequential loss, property damage, or other damage caused by cage modification, incorrect installation, unsuitable cage setup, unsafe mounting, failure to use the appropriate hooks, failure to follow installation guidance, lack of supervision, bird behaviour, third-party interference, or use outside the intended purpose of the product.
Nothing in this section excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law.
Ongoing Checks
Owners should regularly check the Seed Cube, hooks, mounting points, cage bars, mesh, doors, bowl rings, and surrounding cage area for movement, wear, damage, sharp edges, looseness, or any change that could affect safety.
If the Seed Cube becomes loose, unstable, damaged, or unsuitable for the bird or cage setup, stop using it immediately and contact us if guidance is required.
Damage and Misuse
Damage caused by incorrect installation, unstable mounting, dropping, impact, mishandling, cage setup, birds, pets, children, cage modification, sharp cage edges, or third-party interference is not a manufacturing fault.
The Seed Cube is made from thick acrylic designed for normal feeder use. Acrylic is strong in normal use but is not impact-rated. Damage caused by dropping, impact, mishandling, cage modification, or use outside the intended purpose of a bird feeder is not covered by warranty.
Back to topFraud Prevention and Policy Abuse
To protect our business and our customers, all returns and warranty claims may be photographed, documented, and assessed on arrival.
We reserve the right to refuse change-of-mind returns or discretionary claims where there is evidence of policy abuse, misuse, false, misleading, or inconsistent evidence, or failure to follow reasonable return instructions. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable consumer law.
Evidence for Claims
For fitment, damage, or warranty claims, we may request reasonable evidence, including:
- Clear photos taken from different angles
- A short video showing the product, issue, and surrounding setup
- Original, unedited files where needed to verify the claim
Where evidence appears altered, incomplete, or inconsistent, we may request further information before assessing the claim.
