How to set up your new Birdie Bar

This guide covers assembly, both mounting options, loading ideas, cleaning and final safety checks.

Installation steps

Set up your Birdie Bar

No tools needed. Assemble it in seconds, choose your mounting position, then load the stainless steel rod with food, Birdie Pucks or suitable bird-safe materials.

Slide the five Pucks between items to create layers, movement and extra resistance, then reposition them whenever you want to change the activity.

The Pucks are designed for interaction and foraging, not consumption.

Option 1: Carabina hanging

  • Clip the stainless steel carabiner securely onto a strong cage bar.
  • Allow the Birdie Bar to hang vertically inside the cage. Check that it can move freely without striking the cage wall, food bowls or other accessories.

Option 2: Ball hanging

  • Remove the green acrylic ball from the threaded end of the rod.
  • Pass the threaded rod through the cage bars, with the Birdie Bar positioned inside the cage.
  • Screw the green acrylic ball onto the rod from outside the cage until the Birdie Bar is held securely in position.
  • Tighten the ball by hand only. Do not overtighten it.

Position the Birdie Bar where your bird can reach it comfortably from a stable perch.

Avoid placing it directly above food bowls, water bowls or areas where droppings may collect. Make sure there is enough room for your bird to sit, grip, pull and forage without becoming cramped against the cage wall.

For hanging setups, check that the Birdie Bar cannot swing into another toy, perch or hard surface.

Remove all food and enrichment materials after use.

Cleaning

Unscrew the green acrylic ball and slide the components off the stainless steel rod.

Wash the rod, carabiner, acrylic ball and Birdie Pucks using warm water, mild dishwashing liquid and a soft cloth.

Rinse thoroughly and allow every component to dry completely before reassembling.

Avoid abrasive scrubbers, harsh chemicals and strong solvents, as these may mark or damage the acrylic surfaces.

For dried food or stubborn residue, soak the affected parts in warm soapy water before wiping them clean.

BUILD A BIRDIE BAR SWING

Use two Birdie Bars together to create an interactive foraging swing for your bird.

  • Drill
  • 6mm Drill bit
  • Marker
  • Suitable branch
Steps
  1. Choose a suitable branch and mark two mounting points.
  2. Drill a 6 mm hole at each mark.
  3. Insert one Birdie Bar through each hole.
  4. Add your chosen foraging items to each Birdie Bar.
  5. Secure each Birdie Bar with the green ball.
  6. Attach both Birdie Bars to your cage to create the swing.


Always wear appropriate safety equipment when using power tools.

Ensure there is appropriate space for comfortable sitting.

Important:

Don't over tighten the Green ball.

• The carabiner is fully closed.
• The green acrylic ball is secure but not overtightened.
• The Birdie Bar cannot fall or pull through the cage bars.
• Your bird has enough room to sit and interact comfortably.
• Fresh food will not contaminate water or other cage areas.
• All added materials are appropriate for your bird.
• No component is cracked, loose or excessively worn.

Your Birdie Bar is now ready to use. Check that it is securely fitted before allowing your bird to interact with it, and supervise use until you are confident the setup is stable.
