What's the difference between shell grit and gizzard grit?
Shell grit is a soluble calcium source birds self-regulate. Gizzard grit is insoluble and used by some species to grind seed. Most parrots do not need grit.

Can I add shell grit to my bird's regular food?
No. Serve in a separate dish so your bird can self-regulate how much they consume. This prevents overconsumption.

Can I use this for laying birds?
Yes. Shell grit supports strong bones and robust eggshell formation in doves, pigeons, poultry, and backyard hens. Provide regular access.

Is this safe for parrots?
Only in very small amounts. Most parrot species do not require grit. Seek veterinary guidance before offering and discontinue if you notice over-consumption.
