Why is Paradise Pellets only 50% of the diet, unlike other Vetafarm pellets?
Paradise Pellets are designed to replicate the natural frugivorous diet. Eclectus and other fruit-eating birds need the majority of their diet to be fresh fruit and vegetables. The 50/45/5 split matches their natural feeding pattern with pellets as nutritional backbone.
What's the low iron formula about?
Eclectus parrots and other frugivores are sensitive to iron accumulation and can develop iron storage disease. Paradise Pellets contain only 60mg/kg of iron, well below standard pellet diets. This protects birds prone to iron overload while meeting their nutritional needs.
Why is vitamin A so high?
Frugivorous birds in the wild consume fruits with high vitamin A content. Paradise Pellets contain 11,000 IU/kg vitamin A to match this natural intake and support vision, feather health and immune function.
Which fruits should I avoid?
Avoid iron-rich fruits like spinach, kiwi fruit, pomegranate, and berries in excess. Also avoid avocado, chocolate, salt and high-fat foods. Stick to apple, pear, mango, papaya, grapes, orange and other low-iron fruits.
Can I use Paradise Pellets if I'm uncertain whether my bird is frugivorous?
If your Eclectus or suspected frugivore has never been tested for iron sensitivity, consult your avian vet. Iron storage disease can develop silently. Paradise Pellets are safe for all frugivores and reduce risk, so they're the better choice if unsure.
Can Paradise Pellets remove the need for supplements?
Yes. When fed at 50% of your bird's diet alongside fresh fruits and vegetables, Paradise Pellets provide complete balanced nutrition. No additional supplements are necessary unless your vet recommends them for a specific health condition.
