Is Parrot Essentials a complete diet on its own?
Yes. Parrot Essentials is formulated to be nutritionally complete as a standalone diet. However, parrots still need fresh fruits and vegetables (15% of diet) for behavioural enrichment and dietary variety. Feed Parrot Essentials at 80% of total daily intake.

What makes Parrot Essentials different from other pellet diets?
Each pellet blend includes 5% real fruit and 5% seasonal nuts mixed through the blueberry-flavoured pellets. This provides built-in variety and enrichment, preventing boredom while maintaining complete nutrition. No additional seeds or supplements needed.

Will my bird refuse these pellets?
Parrot Essentials is formulated to be highly palatable for all parrots. The blueberry flavour and visible fruit and nut pieces encourage acceptance, particularly for birds transitioning from seed mixes.

Can I use this for breeding birds?
Yes. Parrot Essentials is suitable for breeding birds. If breeding, consider adding an additional calcium source such as D'Nutrical to support egg formation and prevent egg binding. Consult your vet for species-specific breeding nutrition.

Why do the pellets contain oats when the ingredients list doesn't mention them?
Parrot Essentials pellets are blended with oats in some distributions. Check your product label for the complete ingredient list, as formulation may include oats depending on batch or regional availability.

Yes. Vetafarm pellets are complete and balanced. They should make up 80 percent of your bird’s daily diet. The remaining 20 percent can include fresh fruit, vegetables and occasional treat foods like nuts or seeds.

Only the pellet size is different. The nutritional content is the same.

  • Mini is suited to small birds like cockatiels, conures and lovebirds.
  • Small works for ringnecks, Alexandrines and amazons.
  • Large is best for cockatoos, macaws and African greys.

Parrot B-Calm is a complete pellet diet that supports birds prone to anxiety or nervous behaviour. It contains L-tryptophan to support mood balance. It is non-sedative and safe for daily feeding as your bird’s main food.

Start with a 50:50 mix of your current seed and Vetafarm pellets. Gradually reduce the seed over one to two weeks. Birds often accept fruit-flavoured pellets like Nutriblend or Parrot Essentials more easily during transition.

Nectar Pellets are low in sugar, tidy to feed and nutritionally complete.

Forest Fusion includes ingredients like dates, bee pollen and blueberry for flavour and gut health.

Both should make up 80 percent of the diet, supported by fresh fruit for enrichment.

Neocare is a hand-rearing formula for baby birds. It provides complete nutrition from hatching through to weaning and includes probiotics, enzymes and balanced energy for fast and healthy development.

Yes. Avicare is a hospital-grade disinfectant that kills bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is safe for use on Seed Cubes, perches, toys, food bowls and most surfaces in your bird’s space. Always remove your bird before cleaning and allow items to dry fully before reuse.

Yes. Vetafarm pellets can be used as the base diet while Forage blends add natural variety. Many customers feed pellets as 80 percent of the diet and use seed, vegetables and fruit to complete the remaining 20 percent.
